Don't let this happen to you.

Hypertension is a silent killer. Blood pressure shoots up without you knowing it. It could be triggered by a deep grief, hot weather, uncontrolled anger, emotional hurt, over fatigue, and eating or drinking binge. Politicians, especially, are very susceptible to some of these conditions.

To feel secure, always have on hand a bottle of MAC. In an emergency, pour three drops of MAC under the tongue. Be ready however, for a very warm and a bit of sting under your tongue. It will work miracles in just a few seconds. (It happened to me!)

Below is a news item on the demise of ex-Batangas governor while he was campaigning.

Ex-Batangas gov dies a day after heat stroke

Former Batangas governor Armando Sanchez died on Tuesday evening, a day after he was rushed to the hospital where he underwent a three-hour brain surgery and remained "semi-comatose."

The official cause of death was "brain hemorrhage," said Dr. Robert Magsino, president and medical director of Mary Mediatrix Medical Center in Lipa City. Sanchez, 57, died at 7:20 p.m.

On Monday, the former governor was rushed to Metro Lipa Hospital after he lost consciousness while addressing employees at the Ladeco feed mill in Lipa City at around noontime, said his vice-gubernatorial running mate Edwin Ermita. The hot weather last Monday, Sanchez's diabetes and hypertension problems, and over-fatigue because of the demands of a strenuous campaign might have triggered his blood pressure to shoot up, which eventually led to the swelling of his brain, said Magsino.

Due to Sanchez’s condition, doctors at the said hospital advised that he be transferred to the Mary Mediatrix Medical Center also in Lipa so he could undergo CT scan, Ermita added.

A surgery revealed that damage to Sanchez’s brain was so severe that he was only given a "five to ten percent survival rate."

Sanchez was running for Batangas governor under the Nacionalista Party banner, as rival of incumbent governor and actress Vilma Santos. Santos, formerly with Lakas-Kampi-CMD, is now running under the Liberal Party.

In 2006, then governor Sanchez escaped a bomb attack allegedly masterminded by Santos's brother-in-law, former vice governor Richard "Ricky" Recto.

Sanchez was a two-term mayor of Santo Tomas (1998-2004) before becoming Batangas governor from 2004 and 2007. He ran for reelection in 2007 but lost to Santos. - Aie Balagtas See with RJAB Jr./JV, GMANews.TV
